Mold and Health Problems
Indoor mold growth and moisture can be responsible for a large number of health problems. Over the past ten years, hundreds of research documents have been published outlining the various health problems that can result from mold and moisture. Some of the most reputable and mainstream of those documents can be read and downloaded on our wiki in the mold and health problems section.
Be on the safe side. If you think that you or a family member or friend may be experiencing mold related health problems, you need to contact a professional. Don’t risk your health.
Many clients ask us: “what are they symptoms of mold exposure”?
Molds cause health effects from inflammation, infections, and/or allergy. The most typical health effect is allergic reaction following exposure to mold. Typical symptoms of mold exposure include:
- Sinus and nasal congestion
- Respiratory problems, including shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, and wheezing
- Irritations in the eyes (watery, burning, or bloodshot eyes)
- Nasal or throat irritation
- Rashes and irritations of the skin
- Cough
- Headaches, problems with memory, mood swings, nosebleeds, body aches and pains, and fevers are sometimes reported in mold cases.
Sufficient epidemiological evidence is available from studies conducted in different countries and under different climatic conditions to show that the occupants of damp or mouldy buildings, both houses and public buildings, are at increased risk of respiratory symptoms, respiratory infections and exacerbation of asthma. Some evidence suggests increased risks of allergic rhinitis and asthma. -2009 World Health Organization
